Never Have I Ever generator
Read out a confession and watch who has to own up. Every tap pulls a random Never Have I Ever line, so nobody has to invent one on the spot. Works on any phone or laptop, with no sign-up and no ads.
Never have I ever sent a message to the group chat that was meant for one person.
Free cards here. The app has thousands.
Playing Never Have I Ever with the generator
- Everybody raises five fingers. Three makes for a quicker game.
- Whoever holds the phone taps Draw a card and reads the statement aloud. The cards are written in the first person, so it sounds like a confession even though nobody picked it.
- Anyone who has done the thing lowers one finger. The reader plays as well: with a generator choosing, nobody is safe.
- Whoever just lowered a finger owes the room the short version of the story. That is where the game really happens.
- Hand the phone left for the next card. The first person with no fingers left loses the round.
If your group likes a penalty, the loser can take one from our forfeit ideas, or you can simply keep a running tally. For the classic rules, and a longer list sorted by who is in the room, read the Never Have I Ever guide.
What the generator might deal you
These are lifted from the party deck, which sticks mostly to dating, texting and exes. Tap the button and any one of them could turn up next:
- Never have I ever rehearsed a "casual" text for twenty minutes.
- Never have I ever lost interest the second they liked me back.
- Never have I ever texted a mate to fake an emergency mid-date.
- Never have I ever had someone saved as "DO NOT TEXT", and texted them.
- Never have I ever made a playlist about someone who never knew about it.
- Never have I ever blocked someone, then unblocked them just to have a look.
- Never have I ever been chatted up and only realised on the way home.
The strongest lines are ordinary enough that a few people have to admit to them, and specific enough that everyone wants to know which few.
Never Have I Ever, the clean way
Press Clean and the generator swaps to a deck about everyday embarrassment: mute buttons, reply all, supermarket aisles. Nothing about drinking or dating, and no innuendo or swearing, so a new manager, a grandparent or a sober mate can play every card without wincing.
- Never have I ever said "you too" when a waiter told me to enjoy my meal.
- Never have I ever talked for a full minute on a call before realising I was on mute.
- Never have I ever hidden from someone I knew in a supermarket aisle.
- Never have I ever panicked and ordered exactly what the person in front of me ordered.
- Never have I ever discovered I had been saying a word wrong my entire life.
- Never have I ever held a door open so long it became awkward for everybody.
Whichever deck you pick stays picked the next time you open the page on that phone. To send someone straight to the tamer one, share this clean deck link.
Good times to bring it out
Uni flats
The first week in a new flat, when nobody knows anything about anybody. Ten minutes of confessions does more than a fortnight of awkward small talk by the kettle, and the clean deck lets flatmates who are not drinking join every round. There are more ideas on party games without drinking.
Work socials
Inductions, away days and the Christmas do. Unlike games that rely on shared history, this one works on people who met that morning, and the clean cards come from office life: reply all, cameras off to eat, looking busy when someone walks past your desk. There are more, sorted by room and with timings, in our icebreaker questions guide.
Weddings
Hen and stag weekends, or a table of guests from both sides who have never met. Keep it clean while the in-laws are listening and save the party deck for after they have gone to bed. The hen do games page has more for the weekend before.
Nights in
A few old friends and a takeaway. You assume you know everything about each other until a card about faking an emergency mid-date makes two people go suspiciously quiet.
Never Have I Ever generator: short answers
Does the reader have to answer too?
Yes. In the classic game the speaker is safe, because they choose something they have never done. Here the generator chooses, so whoever reads is just as exposed as everyone else.
What if nobody puts a finger down?
Then the card was too tame for this room. Draw another, or move from Clean to Party if everyone is happy to go further.
Will we get repeats?
No. Each deck is shuffled once when the page opens and dealt through in full before anything comes round again. Swapping between Party and Clean starts a fresh shuffle of the deck you land on.
Can we play over a video call?
Yes. One person shares their screen with the generator open and reads each card while everybody holds their fingers up to the camera. Or tap Copy after a draw to drop the line into the call's chat.
Where are the rest of the cards?
In the Antics app. It comes with free Never Have I Ever cards, and Antics Premium unlocks the whole deck, dealt without repeats. You also get eight more party games, Imposter and The Four Kings among them, and both of those are free. It runs on iPhone and Android in eleven languages, with no ads and no account to make.
