Party rules: read a dilemma out loud. On three, everyone points left or right (or shouts A or B). The minority drinks, or takes a forfeit in the sober version. Ties mean everyone drinks, obviously.

The real rule: you must choose. "Neither" costs a double. The follow-up interrogation of whoever voted weird is the actual game.

This guide explains the traditional game as it is played offline. Antics for iOS is a party-only app built on forfeits and contains no drinking instructions.

Making it a drinking game (or not)

The voting mechanic is what turns a car-journey game into a party game: everyone commits publicly, the minority pays, and the room immediately demands justifications. In the sober version the minority takes a forfeit instead: we keep 40+ forfeit ideas for exactly this. Same arguments, no hangover.

How do you play Would You Rather as a drinking game?

Read a dilemma, count down from three, and everyone votes at once: point, shout, or hands up for option A. Whichever side has fewer votes drinks. Refusing to choose costs a double.

What if the vote is a tie?

Everyone drinks. It's the only fair outcome and the game gets better if ties feel dangerous.

Can you play Would You Rather sober?

Completely: the minority takes a forfeit instead of a drink. The game is the choices and the arguments, not the sips.

Play it right: the drinking version is 18+: sips, not chugs, and nobody has to drink who doesn't want to. Look after your mates.
